Gerald Kalsbeek, age 91, of Mountain Home, died Friday, April 23, 2004, at his residence. He was born December 20, 1912, in Groningen, the Netherlands, to Anne Gerard and Geesje Oving Kalsbeek. He married the former Harmina Vander Wal in Groningen on May 10, 1937. He immigrated to America in 1951 after owning a grocery business for 25 years. He was a retired school custodian and a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. He moved to Mountain Home in 1977 from Glen Ellyn, Illinois.
Mr. Kalsbeek was a devoted husband and loving father. Survivors are his wife: Harmina Kalsbeek of Mountain Home; 4 children: Arthur (Karen) Kalsbeek of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin; Janneke (Robert) Smith of Louisville, Kentucky; Dr. Edward Kalsbeek of Elgin, Illinois; and Frederik (Barbara) Kalsbeek of Peoria, Illinois: 6 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 step great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Harmina Kalsbeek, age 97, of Mountain Home, died Saturday, January 19, 2008, at the Good Samaritan Village. She was born December 18, 1910, in Groningen, the Netherlands, to Janneke and Auke VanderWal. She married Gerald Kalsbeek in Groningen on May 10, 1937. She immigrated to America in 1951. In 1977 she moved from Glen Ellyn, Illinois to Mountain Home. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Kalsbeek was a devoted wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 23, 2004, her parents, brother, sister, and step-sister.
