RANKIN, D.W. - It is with a feeling of genuine sadness that we mention the death of Dr. D.W. Rankin, which occurred at his home yesterday morning at 7 o'clock after a week's illness from pneumonia. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.A. House at the M.E. Church at 9 o'clock this morning and the remains were taken to Bloomfield cemetery for interment. Dr. Rankin has been a leading citizen of this place about eight years, during which time he has been engaged in the practice of his profession and has done much to relieve the suffering of the sick of the community. He was possessed of a kind heart and a gentle disposition, a friend to humanity and a consistent christian. All that careful nursing by the loving hands of his family and the assistance of physicians and friends could not stay the hand of the Grim Reaper. The deep interest taken by the friends during his sickness and the universal sorrow which pervaded the town when it was announced that this immaculate life was ended, is a high testimonial of the esteem in which he was held.

Margaret E. Wilson was born Sept. 29, 1840 and died July 15, 1923, aged 82 years, 10 months and 16 days. She was married Dec. 1, 1858 to Dr. David W. Rankin in Morristown, Tenn., making their home in that state until April 1881 when they moved to Viney Grove, Washington Co., Ark.; soon afterwards they moved to Bloomfield, Benton county, Ark.; coming from that place to Gentry about the year of 1895 where she spent the remainder of her life. To this union thirteen children were born; the husband and five children preceded her in death. There remains: Mary A. Raum of Marietta, Okla.; Laura I. Carl of Gentry, Ark.; Catherine V. Tallman, Gentry, Ark.; Mariah T. Varney, Kansas City, Mo.; Margaret M. Collins, Greenville, Tex.; Lela A. Stroud, Newton, Kans.; Robert A. Rankin, Gentry, Ark.; and Ralph W. Rankin of St. Joe, Mo.; all of whom were present except Lela, who was absent on account of sickness in her home. She also had twenty-two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Sister Rankin has been a consecrated christian woman; always interested in the work of the Kingdom of God. She attended church and her presence was an inspiration to the preacher. The funeral services were held July 17 from the residence of her son, R.J. Rankin, conducted by Rev. C.H. Sherman of the Methodist church. The remains were laid to rest by the side of her husband in the Bloomfield cemetery.
