JONESBORO — Christopher “Chris” Reeves, 17, of Jonesboro died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, surrounded by his family and close friends.
He had lived in Jonesboro his entire life and attended Southwest Church of Christ. He was a member of the JHS baseball team where he was a pitcher and centerfielder. Christopher also played for the Fat City American Legion Baseball team.
He was an avid hunter and participated in the Trophy Big Horn Ram Hunt by Hunt of a Lifetime for youth with life-threatening illnesses. The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission is sponsoring a Christopher Reeves Memorial Hunt for Youth.
Christopher was a strong and courageous young man who battled cancer for four years and was selected as the Leukemia Boy of the Year for 2006 by the National Leukemia Society. In school, he was active in SADD — Students Against Destructive Decisions.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal great-grandparents; and his grandfather, Don Berry.
Christopher is survived by his parents, Dan and Cheryl Reeves; sisters, Chelsey Reeves and Chloe Reeves, all of the home; grandmother, Mary Kathryn Berry of Jonesboro; grandfather, Charles Keller of Jonesboro; grandparents, Troy and Louise Reeves of Jonesboro; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be 5 p.m. Tuesday in Southwest Church of Christ with Jimmy Adcox officiating and eulogist Scott Arender, Mickey Felts and Kevin Pierce. Burial will follow in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers are Brant Arender, McKenzie Pierce, Broc Arender, Ethan Leonard, Dominque Coleman, Brett Copeland, Jared Cook and Jenna Futrell.
Honorary pallbearers are the J-Dogs Baseball Team and coaches; the JHS Baseball Team and coaches Jim Ellis, Wade Brown and Mark Dobson; Troy Wallach; John Harrington; Ashley Williams; staff of St. Jude; Dr. Jason Casey; dialysis nurses at Le Bonheur’s Children Hospital; and Bryan Ashton and Rick Emery of the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission.
