Carles Kathryn Nixon, 79, of Fayetteville passed away Saturday, June 24, 2006, in Fayetteville. She was born Jan. 18, 1927, in Baldwin, the daughter of Urbit and Pansy Brooks Patrick. She worked for Swanson's (Campbell Soup) far 11 years prior to working for the Washington Regional Medical Center for 37 years, from where she retired. She enjoyed her family, traveling and gardening, and took great pride in her many varieties of flowers, such as her violets, iris and roses.
She is survived by her husband, Jim Mac (J.M.) Nixon (married July 5, 1946) of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Larry R. and Crissa Nixon of Baldwin; brother and sister-in-law, Carl Kenneth and Jenny Patrick of Baldwin; one granddaughter, Jennifer Nixon Thurman of Fayetteville; three great-grandchildren; Trevor, Jacob and Joshua Thurman.
She is preceded in death by one son, Charles C. (Buzz) Nixon, who passed away on June 23, 2005, in Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 27, 2006, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Baggett officiating. Burial will follow in Hester Cemetery near Baldwin. Pallbearers will be Jim Wright, Bob Jarnagan, Jimmy Sexton, Bill Beavers, Leon Drain and Bradley Rice.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2006, in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
