*STONEY POINT CHURCH

Stoney Point Cemetery
White County,
Arkansas

This historic cemetery is located about two miles west of Beebe, off Highway 64. The following listing was prepared by Leroy Blair of the White County Historical Society after he visited Stoney Point in early 2001 and again the following year. He updated a list that had been prepared in March 1962 by Historical Society member Nell Henry.Stoney Point Cemetery Stone

Following are Blair’s directions for reaching the cemetery: "From Beebe, take Highway 64 west about one mile from the intersection of Highway 64 and 67/167 to Stoney Point Road; turn right and go about one mile to the intersection of Stoney Point Road and Swinging Bridge Road; the cemetery is behind the church at this intersection." Blair found 730 rocks or small cement blocks that were painted silver and he thinks were marking graves. "It is possible that some may mark the foot of other graves; it is hard to tell for sure."

Blair reported, "The cemetery is well cared for. There is a road that goes through it. The new section is above the road toward the church and the older section is below the road."

Work is in progress to nominate the cemetery for the National Register of Historic Places. Donations to the Stoney Point Cemetery Fund may be made at First Security Bank in Beebe.

See Old Stoney Point for more information.
