Yes it did interest me very much, since I have two great grandfathers and a great uncle buried there. About 15 years ago, I started a campaign to salvage what was left of St. Peter's Cemetery in New Gascony because farmers plowed a lot of it up, and destroyed and buried many graves and monuments that were there. When I was a young boy, our family used to go there once a year at around All Souls Day for blessing of the graves by the priest and to put flowers on the graves of our relatives. Back then there were many elaborate monuments and grave markers that were since destroyed after the St. Joseph's Parish neglected the place and it fell into disrepair. The best we were able to accomplish was to get the church to mow the grass periodically and get basic repairs to the front gate and fence. We had the outline of St. Peter's Church, which burned down in the 20's or 30's, located and marked with bricks, and we erected a monument with the names of people who were buried there. There are very few grave markers left -- only some of the ones near the perimeter fence. The rest were destroyed.
