Tuesday, February 15, 1927
J.R. Varnell, our well known constable of Brightwater township, died at his home Feb. 9 after a short illness of four days. He was 64 years and seven months and 26 days old. All of his children were present at the funeral but one son who lives in Iowa and could not be here. Robert, as he was called, will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was laid to rest in the Buttram Chapel Cemetery after services conducted by Brother Sturdy and J.H. Buttram of Bestwater.

VARNELL, J. Robert - J.R. Varnell died at his home at Bestwater February 9th. He was well known in the community and served as constable of Brightwater township. Mr. Varnell was 64 years of age. He was laid to rest in the Buttram Chapel Cemetery following services conducted for him by Rev. Sturdy and J.H. Buttram of Bestwater.
