DOUGLAS, Jesse Irwin - {from Highfill} Jesse Irwin Douglas, the youngest child of Decatur and Maggie Douglas, died at his home April 8, 1912, aged 2 years, 6 months and 14 days. He was the victim of a very sad accident; the child's parents thought he was asleep but upon looking for him could not find him and becoming uneasy started a search which resulted in finding him in the rain barrel, drowned. A marble and tin can were found in the barrel so it is very likely that he dropped them in and on reaching for them lost his balance and fell in. Jesse was an affectionate child of a very sweet disposition and is greatly missed by his parents, five brothers and three sisters. Interment was in Douglas cemetery.
