TAYLOR, Lida C. DAVIS – After an illness dating back to March Mrs. Taylor, wife of E.L. Taylor, passed away Sunday night at eleven o'clock at the family home on Maple Avenue. Funeral services were held at the residence Tuesday morning at nine o'clock, conducted by Rev. W.F. Rogers, pastor of the Presbyterian Church, assisted by Rev. W.V. Womack, pastor of the M.E. Church, South, and the remains were interred in Bluff Cemetery. Lida C. Davis was born in
Haywood County, Tenn. Nov. 26, 1866.December 14, 1887 she was united in marriage to E.L. Taylor, a native of the same county. To them were born seven children, five of whom survive. They are Callie, Raymond, Marianna, Guy and Gerald, the youngest being eight years of age. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor made their home principally in their native county until they came to Springdale last August. Besides the immediate family deceased is survived by four brothers and one sister, Mrs. S.H. Rice, whose home is at Beaumont, Texas. Three brother reside in Texas and the other in Tennessee. Two of the brothers, Mack Davis of Ft. Worth, and Pinkney Davis of Beaumont, together with the sister, were present at the bedside of their sister when the summons came, Mrs. Rice having been here for several weeks. Mrs. Taylor had been a member of the M.E. Church, South since early childhood. During her residence of a few months in Springdale she had not become generally known but those who knew her found in her many good qualities and admired and respected her as a gentle, patient woman, devoted to her husband and children. No higher tribute could be paid to any woman. Mrs. Taylor was conscious until a short time before the end came and realizing that she could not long survive she gave direction as to her funeral and called her children one by one to her bedside for the final farewell.
