ROOF, E.S. – E.S. Roof died Monday afternoon about six o'clock at his home in the west part of town. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at four o'clock at the M.E. Church, being conducted by Revs. J.T. Nelson of Rogers and W.C. Evans of this place. Interment in Bluff Cemetery under the auspices of the G.A.R. Post.

Deceased was born in Zanesville, Ohio July 17, 1834 and was untied in marriage to Miss Annie Cripe July 4, 1864. As a result of this union there were six children, three of whom, two sons and one daughter, are now living. They are Mrs. Cato of Fort Smith; Schiller Roof, residing ten miles west of town, and Wm. Roof, who lives in the southeastern part of the state.

The children were all present at the funeral except the latter. Mr. Roof served for 3 years and 3 months in the war between the states, being a member of the Fourth California regiment. He had been a resident of Springdale for several years, coming here from Fort Smith.

Mr. Roof had been in ill health for two years and for six months had been confined to his bed. Death was due to organic heart trouble. During his residence in Springdale Mr. Roof made many friends and was esteemed by all who knew him.

The family of the deceased desire through The News to extend their thanks to the people of Springdale for the kindnesses shown them in their affliction.
