The Springdale News Mary 25, 1906
The death of Mrs. Mary Pollock, wife of B.F. Pollock, which occurred on Tuesday morning, May 15, came as a surprise to her friends as it was not generally known that she was sick. Her death was caused from an abscess in the side from which she had suffered more or less for several years past. Her last illness was only of a weeks duration. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church, South, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. B.M. Burrow, the pastor of the church. The remains were interred in Bluff Cemetery. Deceased was 58 years of age and was born and reared near Wedington, this county, her parents being Nathaniel and Amanda Abbott. She was united in marriage to B.F. Pollock something over five years ago which was her fourth marriage. Her first husband was a Mr. Copeland, her second a Mr. Jack and the third a Mr. Hale. She was devoted to all and to none more so than Mr. Pollock, looking after his wants and caring for him in a most tender manner. She was the mother of 2 children by her first husband, both of whom are dead. She has 4 sisters living and 3 dead and is also survived by 3 brothers, one of whom, Henry Abbott, lives near Springdale. "Aunt Mary" as she was affectionately known by her friend, was one of those good, motherly women who are always prompt to respond to the calls of the sick and distressed. If any were sick in the community she was always the first to be there with offers of assistance. She will be missed by many and of course more especially by Mr. Pollock and little grand-son, Herschel, these three composing the little family. Deceased was for many years a faithful member of the M.E. church, South. Mr. Pollock requests The News to extend his grateful thanks to the friends who were so kind and attentive during the sickness and death of Mrs. Pollock.
