W. M. WHITE

Patton Cemetery
Marion County,
Arkansas

May 23, 1836--February 20, 1859

There is no further information available on W. M. White. His grave is among the early Magness graves in the Patton Cemetery. As a result, he was probably related to or married to a member of the Magness family.

This is one of 17 graves that are in the southeast corner of the Patton Cemetery on the banks of Crooked and Clear Creek that are covered with limestone slabs. Most of the slabs are coffin shaped like this one. The large coffin shaped slabs for adult graves are generally 72 inches long by 24-1/2 inches wide at the widest point and 4 inches thick. It appears that the large slabs originally were placed on top of rock foundations, but most of the foundations have given away over the years.
