This grave is among the early Magness graves in the Patton Cemetery. The name and the inscribed dates on the old gravestone are very legible. Even so, the information concerning Solomon R. Wood is conflicting. Magness Family genealogical information indicates that Solomon R. Wood was the son of William "Dancing Bill" & Hannah Austin Wood, and that he was born November 11, 1819. The information indicates that he married Martha Patsy Magness in 1839, and that both were killed in the Mountain Meadow Massacre in Utah on September 11, 1857.
Data on the Mountain Meadow Massacre does list a Solomn R. Wood among the list of those murdered; however, Martha Patsy Magness Wood is not listed among the victims. To confuse the situation more, the Solomon R. Wood victim listing gives his age as 20, and that he was unmarried, and the son of George Washington Wood & Nancy Jane Coker Wood.
