Emmett Lee Wester was born in Dallas, Texas in the Oak Cliff area to Addie Bell(Laird)Wester and John W Wester on April 2, 1916. He moved to Arkansas when he was a child. He joined the Army in October 1941 taking basic training at Camp Robinson Arkansas. He volunteered for the Paratroopers and graduated March 21, 1942; he was assigned to the 503rd parachute infantry regiment and was shipped to the South Pacific where he took part in five combat missions including 3 combat jumps, one of which was on the island of Corrigadore "The Rock." He was discharged as a sergeant and awarded the bronze star after that mission.
Eva Louise Gore was born in Southwest Arkansas near DeQueen, the Walnut Springs area, to Earnest and Madie Gore. She had one older brother, Leon. After Emmett's discharge in 1945 they went to New Mexico and then to Arizona where they spent the next 30 years. They had 4 children Gayle, born 1947; Doyle, born 1950; Ronnie, born 1952; and David, born 1954. Upon their retirement they returned to Dilworth, Arkansas where they lived the rest of their lives.
