BENBROOK, John Q. - After a lingering illness of four months our esteemed fellow citizen, Mr. John Q. Benbrook, died at his residence in this city at 5 o'clock Tuesday morning. During his long suffering he bore with Christian fortitude the "racks and pains that flesh is heir to" and gave unmistakable evidence that he was ready for "the great beyond." Through it all his faithful children stood watch by his bed-side day and night, hoping against hope, and administering to his every want. His funeral took place from the family residence at 10 o'clock Wednesday in the presence of a large concourse of sympathetic friends of the family. Revs. Greathouse and Lipsey conducted the services, after which the body was taken charge of by the Masons and tenderly laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Benbrook was about fifty years of age and had lived in this community from his early youth. He was a man who commanded the respect of all who knew him and was without an enemy in the world. He was a devoted Christian and a member of the Baptist church and was also a Mason, an Odd Fellow and a member of the Knights of Honor. In his death Fayetteville has lost one of her most useful and popular citizens but the greatest loss is that of his children whose home is desolate because of the absence of a devoted and loving father.
