WILLIAMS, Jesse C. - A telegram was received from Chris Williams today, reading as follows: “Papa died suddenly this morning.” Only yesterday the Daily stated information received from the family that Mr. Williams was on the high road to recovery. He was at Carlsbad, New Mexico, where he went several months ago for his health, accompanied by his wife and their son Chris. He had apparently improved so much that they had set out today to start home, with the intention of selling out his business and locating in New Mexico. While no particulars are given, it is probable that a severe hemorrhage of the stomach or lungs quickly ended his life. The news of his death is a shock to the people of Fayetteville, among whom he lived for forty years. He was one of the most gentle, whole-souled, kind and accommodating men we have ever known and yet he was a man of positive convictions. He was always so affable, cheerful and full of life that it is hard to think of him as dead.. The body will be brought here for burial, arriving probably Monday or Tuesday. --Saturday’s Fayetteville Daily.
