Upright as a man. Exemplary as a
Christian and Eminent as a Judge.
He descended to the grave full of years
Respected by his fellow man and mourned
by a large family.
Note: He Served as United States District Judge for Arkansas from statehood in 1836 until his death in 1849. Namesake of Johnson County, Arkansas. He was appointed Superior Court Judge for Arkansas Territory in 1820.
