George Rollen Shoop was born June 6, 1886 to William and Mary E. Broome Shoop. He passed from this life Thursday morning, June 17, 1948 at the age of 62 years, at the family home on North 14th St. in Van Buren after an illness of 2 weeks.
He was a retired farmer and a widower.
He was survived by one brother, Dan Shoop; 2 sons, Robert of Van Buren, Olin of Lindsey, California; a daughter, Hazel Stanley, of Shreveport, Louisiana; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Ocker Memorial Chapel with the Rev. T.H. Jordan Officiating.
Pallbearers were W.R. Trout, B.J. Lemley, Bill Ball, Ed Holmes, Oliver Plemones and Doug Bailey.
