Billie Shoop of 121 N. 14th St., Van Buren, Arkansas, passed from this life on May 13, 1947. He had suffered from an illness of 4 months. He was 22 years old. He was born on August 6, 1924 in Van Buren, to George and Julia Bollen Shoop.
Billie was handicapped and was a conspicuous figure on the street of Van Buren in his little hand-propelled wagon, from which he operated a small business. His plight touched the hearts of many people and one soldier laid aside a monthy remittance to help care for him.
He was survived by his parents; his brothers, Bollen and Robert of Lindsay, California; a sister, Mrs. Jack Stanley of Fort Smith; 2 nieces, Patsy and Bobbie Jean Shoop and nephew George Everett Shoop all of Lindsay, California; maternal grandfather, Charles Bollen of California.
Funeral services were held at Gill Cemetery with Rev. E.H. Brown of Antioc Baptist Church officiating.
