Nancy Alongis of Chattahoochee, FL, died Saturday (May 13, 2000) at Baxter Regional Medical Center. She was 68.
Mrs. Alongis was born Oct 29, 1931, to Mr. and Mrs. Grand Hurst of Pottersville, MO. She married Sam Alongis on Aug 23, 1951 at Raleigh, NC and worked as a nurse's aid. She served in the United States Army during the Koran War and was protestant by faith. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and making crafts.
She is survived by her husband, Sam Alongis of the home; two sons, Lewis Alongis and wife Maggie of Madervill, LA, Stephen Alongis and wife Debbie of Quintanan Beach, TX; two daughters, Virginia Mann and husband Jimmy of Atlanta, GA, Carol Alne and husband Rod of San Antonio, TX; two brothers, Rudolph Hurst and wife Doris of Independence, MO, Donald Hurst of Norfork; six grandchildren, Donald, Stephanie, Amy, Nicole, Mariah and Mikaela; one great grandson, Jacob. Mrs. Alongis was preceded in death by her parents, Grant and Tishie Collins Hurst; two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation will be noon-9PM today at Roller Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 6-8PM. Graveside services will be 10AM Tuesday at the Burnt Schoolhouse Cemetery with military honors by the North Central Veterans Council with Honor Guard by the American Legion Ally White Post 52.
Arrangements are by Roller Funeral Home.
Roller Funeral Home and the United States Forestry Service have provided for the planting of a tree as a living memorial to the memory of Mrs. Nancy Alongis.
