Died Mountain Home, Baxter County, Arkansas.
Son of W.R. & Myrtle Annie Smart Smith.

Mr. Joe Lewis Smith, age 83, of Flippin, passed away May 28 at Baxter Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be from 10 until Noon on Monday, June 1 at Roller Funeral Home. A graveside service will be 2:00 PM Monday at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Cotter, with military honors. Interment will follow in Walnut Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born Dec. 24, 1925 in Clovis, New Mexico to W.R. and Myrtle Annie Smart Smith. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Mr. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church in Crane, MO, a Mason, a member of the American Legion and a member of the Cherokee Tribe of Northeast Alabama. He was a retired railroad conductor.
Survivors include two sons: Larry Joe (Brenda) Smith of Nixa, MO and Randy (Lana) Smith of Vilonia, AR; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and a long time friend & companion, Evelyn Lawyer of Flippin.
Preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Allye Michelle Smith , 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
