GROVE, Okla. — Helen Marie Hignite, 71, died Feb. 5, 2005, in Grove, Okla. She was born March 3, 1933, to Carl Franklin and Alice Evelyn Mallory Shafer in Modoc, Kan. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Plainville, Kan. She was a volunteer at the hospital and donated to Helping Hands. Her hobbies included fishing, gardening and NASCAR.

She is survived by her husband, Paul Hignite of the home; four sons, Paul Eugene Hignite and wife Molly of Pineville, Mo., Frankie Allen Hignite and wife Elsie Sid of Rogers, Steven Lee Hignite and wife Rhonda of Jacket, Mo. and Roger Dean Hignite and wife Amanda Lee of Bella Vista; one daughter, Marilyn Marie Cochran, of Noel, Mo.; two brothers, Marvin Shafer of Garden City, Kan. and Billy Shafer of Springdale; one sister, Louise Hughes of Holcomb, Kan.; 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Callison-Lough Funeral Service chapel in Gravette with the Rev. Gary Rhodes officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
