Beatrice Marie Lassiter, 85, of Walnut Ridge died Sunday, Oct. 5, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro.

Beatrice was born Dec. 21, 1922, in Lawrence County to Grear and Clara Simpson Abbott. She was a homemaker and member of Charity Apostolic Tabernacle Church of Hoxie. She was united in marriage in August 1943 at Randolph County to Sam Lassiter, who preceded her in death June 11, 1991.

Survivors include two sons, Charles Lassiter of Jonesboro and Sam Lassiter and his wife Shelly of Alicia; three daughters, Jean Krantz and husband Albert of Swifton, Joan Hunnicutt and husband Tom, and Janie Lassiter, all of Williford; "like a son" Charles Chriswell of Shelby, N.C., two sisters-in-law, Sally Lassiter and Mary Abbott; 17 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends mourn her passing.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers; two sisters; one daughter-in-law, Jo Ann Lassiter; and Roy Criswell, who was like a son.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Higginbotham Chapel at Walnut Ridge with the Rev. Darrell Douglas officiating and burial following in Lawrence Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Higginbotham Funeral Services of Walnut Ridge.
Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-8 at the funeral home.
