Rosa Van Walker was born in Dodge County, Wis. April 5th, 1859, was married to C.P. McElligott at Mulford, Minn. May 30th 1885, moving to Taney county, Mo. in 1892 and to Gentry, Ark. March 12, 1909. To this union were born seven children, four girls and three boys, Bertha of Siloam Springs; Albert, who died in Gentry March 30, 1911; Mrs. Josie Kirk of Gentry; Mrs. Ruth Hardy of Gentry; Philip, Byron and Mabel of Siloam. The husband and father died April 15, 1911. She died of tuberculosis after a lingering illness at Siloam Springs Dec. 13, 1913 and was buried in Gentry cemetery beside her late husband and son Dec. 14, all the living children being present. Short funeral services were conducted at the grave by Eld. O.L. Sumner of the Christian church.
