WALNUT RIDGE -- Charles J. Melton, 76, of Walnut Ridge died Friday, March 12, at his residence.

A Baptist Minister for over 20 years, he served as pastor for the New Covenant Church in Walnut Ridge. He also worked for Arkansas Area Agency on Aging, served in the Navy and was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Melton of the home; one daughter, Wanda Williams of Walnut Ridge; one son, Ray Melton of Walnut Ridge; three sisters, Edith Parks and Ernistine Andrews, both of Walnut Ridge, and Wanda Cooper of Paragould; four stepsisters, Mildred Christopher, Lavern Jones and Barbara Oswald, all of Jonesboro, and Avo Monroe of Walnut Ridge; one brother, Jerry Melton of Jonesboro; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at House-Gregg Funeral Home chapel in Walnut Ridge, with Bob Smith and Farris Paxton officiating.

Burial will follow in Lawrence Memorial Park Cemetery.

Active pallbearers will be Rocky Sheets, Kelly Waddell, Michael Witcher, Theadore Andrews and Danny Andrews.

Honorary pallbearers will include J.C. Witcher and Newton Phillips.

Visitation will be from 5:30-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Judy Lee Melton, 90 of Walnut Ridge, died Saturday December 2, 2017 at St. Bernard’s Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro.

She was born May 30, 1927 in Mechanicsville, MD to Howard J. Thompson and Frances Julia Owens Thompson.

Judy was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, she loved canning and one found it hard to meet her without getting sent home with a jar or two. She loved to fish. She was a loving wife and mother and was of the Baptist belief. She also was a member of the USO.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Charles Melton; her daughter-in-law, Pat Melton; and 8 siblings.

She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Williams; son, Ray Melton; granddaughter, Marci Stallings; grandsons, Craig Melton & Josh Melton; and a great grandson, Leighton Leddy.

Visitation will be Monday December 4, 2017 at House-Gregg Funeral Home from 6:00PM-8:00PM.

Funeral services will be Tuesday December 5, 2017 at 10:00AM at House-Gregg Funeral Home with Brother Tim Campbell officiating.

Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Park under the direction of House-Gregg Funeral Home of Walnut Ridge & Lynn, Arkansas.
