GARRETT, Martin – (from The Fayetteville Sentinel) Martin Garrett died Saturday in Benton County where he had gone on a visit to relatives. The remains were brought back home Sunday. Mr. Garrett was an old citizen having lived here since before the war, was a Confederate soldier and leaves a wife and several grown children.

State of Arkansas Confederate Pension Archives
Sarah Garrett, widow of Martin Garrett, who died September 21, 1902, filed Widow Application #13602 with the Confederate Pension Board of Washington County for a Confederate widow pension and it was received as allowed August 14, 1911 at the State, citing her husband’s service with the Arkansas Cavalry from 1861 thru 1864.
