A little History of William Steward as printed in the book 'History In Headstones" written by Doris Stevenson West and Susan Stevenson Swinburn printed in 1970 by the Press-Argus.
William Steward married Phoebe Dean in 1817 and they were parents of three sons: Harvey, Alexander, and Darwin. Phoebe died in 1824. In 1832, he married Malissa Dickerson and she bore him nine children: Noah (died in infancy), Phoebe, John, Samuel, William, Frances, Mary, Henry, and Fannie. He came to Van Buren, AR in 1836 and purchased land from the government that is known as Lancaster.
