ADKINS, Sadie M. DURHAM - The many friends of the family of D.R. Adkins were much surprised Sunday night to hear of the unexpected death of Mrs. Adkins which occurred that evening about 8 o'clock at their home in Decatur. Mrs. Adkins had been sick with typhoid fever and Saturday morning was able to get up town but suffered a relapse with a congestive chill Sunday morning and passed away at the time above stated. Mrs. Adkins, whose maiden name was Sadie M. Durham, was born at Washburn, Mo. and was in her 39th year. Since marriage to Mr. Adkins had resided in Gravette a number of years. Mrs. Adkins joined the Presbyterian church here six years ago. Besides Mr. Adkins the deceased leaves two children, Ray and Flora, and her death falls heavily on the little family. Mr. Adkins has suffered considerable misfortune during the past year but this blow is one which breaks a peaceable circle and leaves sorrow in its wake. A host of sympathizers both here and elsewhere will join the News Herald in extending profound sympathy to Mr. Adkins and children. The funeral was held here Monday afternoon at the Presbyterian church, conducted by Rev. Bridger, after which burial took place at the Odd Fellows cemetery. An uncle, who was enroute from Missouri to visit Mrs. Adkins, reached here Monday, enroute to Decatur to see his niece, unapprised of her death.
