Verbal Gilah Wickersham Jeffery of Calico Rock, daughter of Dave and Rebecca Carey Wickersham, was born September 2, 1918, in Wiseman. She died November 20, 1999, at Mountain Home. She was 81.

Mrs. Jeffery was united in marriage to Rex Hayden Jeffery July 2, 1943. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Calico Rock for 50 years and a long-time elementary school teacher.

Survivors include one son, Hayden William Jeffery of Mountain View; two brothers, Don Wickersham of Newark, and John and Marge Wickersham of Espanola, New Mexico; five grandchildren, Christy, Jeffery, Courtney, Keathley, Alicia Foster, Jessika Foster, and Paul Foster...she was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one brother, Glen Wickersham, and one great-granddaughter, Bailee.

Graveside services were held November 22, 1999 at Roselawn Cemetery in Calico Rock with Rev. Alvin Wiles officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home of Melbourne.
