James L. Owens Dies Here Monday Morning
James L. Owens, 65, native of this section, died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Helen Drennan, in East Calico Rock, Monday morning, May 23, following a brief illness.
Funeral services, conducted by Rev. Walter Hutson of Mountain Home, were held Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 o'clock, burial being in Rose Lawn Cemetery here. The Roller Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Owens was born a few miles east of Calico Rock and practically all his life was spent in this county. In 1903 he was married to Miss Augusta Vanatter.
Surviving, are his wife; four sons, Henry, Japeth, Eugene and Uyless Owens, of Calico Rock; six daughters, Mrs. Mary Griggs of Dolph, Mrs. Fairy Smithson, Mrs. Lillian Lively, Mrs. Lorine Blankenship and Mrs. Helen Drennan, of Calico Rock and Mrs. Maxine Lively of Forty Four; one brother, Charles of Reeves, Mo., one sister, Mrs. Levie Eddleman of Tulsa, Okla.; 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
