Well Known Citizen Dies Thursday Night
W. Lee Talburt, aged 70, well known citizen and for many years a resident of this vicinity, died Thursday night at about 7:30 o'clock, at his home here.
Mr. Talburt had been in failing health for several months, having suffered a paralytic stroke about two years ago. He suffered a second stroke two weeks ago, which hastened his death.
Mr. Talburt was born in Baxter County. All his life was spent in this section. Soon after his marriage 38 years ago to Miss Jo Caldwell of Fulton County, he located at Creswell, where for a number of years he was engaged in the timber and mercantile business. He engaged in the mercantile business after moving to Calico Rock about 25 years ago and after disposing of his business, was on the road as salesman until ill health forced his retirement. He has a wide acquaintance over north Arkansas and was highly esteemed by a host of friends.
Funeral services, conducted by Elder T. H. Sherrill of Searcy, were held today (Friday) at 2 p.m., at the Church of Christ, interment being in Rose Lawn cemetery at this place. Arrangements were in charge of Crouch Funeral Home, Batesville.
Surviving, are his wife, five sons, Herman, Farrell and Thomas Talburt of Calico Rock, Lucian of Grand Coulee, Wash., and John of Ft. Warren, Cheyenne, Wyoming,, three daughters, Miss Maxine Talburt of Pueblo, Colo., Mrs. Roy O. Jackson of Hobbs, New Mex., and Mrs. Tony Bachearl of Mtn. Home, Ark., a brother, Edward C. Talburt of Sylamore and a sister, Miss Georgeanna Talburt of Sylamore.
