A 2/C James Wesley Owens was killed in a airplane crash June 28 at Lancaster, Calif.

James Wesley Owens was born August 30, 1936 at Calico Rock, Arkansas and passed away at the age of 20 years, 9 months and 28 days. He spent most of his life around Calico Rock. He made his home with his father from early 1947 until he entered the service in September 1955. During this same period he spent some of this time with his mother at Bald Knob. He belonged to a Baptist Church in California.

Survivors include his father and step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Owens of Frankford, Kansas; one brother, Billy Jo Owens; three sisters, Betty Jean Owens, Lora Lea Owens and Jane Sue Owens, all of the home of Frankford, Kansas, his mother Mrs. Mary Burnette, Bald Knob, Arkansas and his paternal grandmother, Augusta Owens of Calico Rock. His grandparents of Bald Knob, Mr. and Mrs. John Lively and a host of aunts, uncles and friends mourn his death.

Funeral services were held at the Halls Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Duncan officiating. Chaplin Gregerson from Little Rock Air Base took charge after services were concluded at the Funeral Home and A 2/C James Wesley Owens was given a Military burial.

Interment was in Rose Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Hall Funeral Home.
