JONESBORO -- Clyde Brann Mitts, 78, of Jonesboro died Monday, July 18.
Born at Swifton, he had previously lived at Tulsa, Okla., Birmingham, Ala., and Oklahoma City before moving to Jonesboro. He attended the University of Arkansas, University of Mississippi and Arkansas State University.
A retired banker and farmer, he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the infantry in the South Pacific.
Survivors include his wife, Imogene "Ditty" Mitts of the home; three sons, Clyde Ellis Mitts of Birmingham, Ala., Paul Mosby Mitts of Jonesboro and Eric Brann Mitts of Edmond, Okla.; and two grandsons, Clyde Paul Mitts of Birmingham and Devin Joseph Mitts of Edmond. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Ellis and Helen Brann Mitts. A memorial service is set for 11 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Swifton. No visitation is planned.
