Wilma Irene Fortune, 77, passed away on May 2, 2009. She was born May 15, 1931, in Oxford, AR to Talmon "Buck" and Flora (Davis) Yancey, the oldest of two children. After graduation from high school, Wilma moved to Wenatchee, WA. She married Bill Fortune on July 5, 1952, and they had two children. She worked as a meat wrapper for various grocery stores in Wenatchee for 20 years. Following Bills retirement, they moved to Mountain Home, AR and then Calico Rock, AR, where she lived for several years. While in Calico Rock, prior to her disability and retirement, Wilma worked in a drugstore, as a waitress and as a convenience store manager. Wilma moved back to East Wenatchee in 1996, where she lived until her death.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Bill. She is survived by her brother, Jerrel Yancey of Oxford, AR; son, Mike Fortune of East Wenatchee; daughter, Lyn (Phil) Derrick of Cle Elum, WA; grandsons, Matt, Travis and Ian Derrick; granddaughters, Jennifer Knight and Corinne Hummel; great-granddaughter, Mikaela Derrick; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of Eastmont Baptist Church (4th and Kentucky, East Wenatchee), where Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2009, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow. Inurnment will be at Roselawn Cemetery, Calico Rock, AR. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to her church or the Arthritis Foundation, 3876 Bridge Way N., Suite #30 Seattle, WA 98103, arthritis.org. Arrangements by Telford's Chapel of the Valley.
