LEWIS, Elephalet - Elephalet Lewis, known to our citizens as "Uncle Dick Lewis," died at home in Oldtown last Thursday night, Feb. 24th after having been confined to his bed for some weeks; age and infirmities being the cause of his death. He was past 83 years of age. We are lacking for particulars but understand that Mr. Lewis came to this country with F.N. Kinney several years ago, they having previously been neighbors in Kansas. Mr. Lewis lived alone and was one who liked to roam our woodland, fishing and enjoying the out of doors. He was a Union soldier. During his sickness neighbors and friends administered to his wants. W.F. Dauben, the Peoples Hardware undertaker, took charge of the burial, which occurred Saturday at the I.O.O.F. cemetery, Rev. G.A. Wilson conducting a short service at the grave.
