CALICO ROCK — Charles Kern Cartwright, 73, died Monday, March 31, 2008, in Little Rock. Born April 21, 1934, in Optimus, he was the son of Charles Bryan Cartwright and Allie Stevens Cartwright. He was united in marriage to Tennie Redding on Aug. 15, 1960, in Girdley, Kan. He served in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of specialist 4. He was a self-employed carpenter. He was of the Baptist faith and was a member of Foothills Baptist Church in Mountain View. Survivors include his wife of 47 years; a son, Charles Shawn Cartwright of Optimus; a daughter, Angela Lonon of Mountain Home; a sister, Wanda Curtis of Optimus; two grandchildren, Bryan Wolf and Haley Cartwright; several nephews and nieces; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Duane Cartwright; and a sister, Lorene Ward.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Foothills Baptist Church in Mountain View with Paul Lancaster and Bryan Wilkie officiating. Burial will be at Optimus Cemetery under the direction of Eddie's Family Funeral Home in Calico Rock. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight.
Pallbearers will be Cheryl Coffey, Kay Tharp, Gary Curtis, Danny Ward, Jackie Ward and Randy Ward. Honorary pallbearers are Keith Curtis, David Ward, Kathy Curtis and Kevin Curtis. Memorials may be made to Foothills Baptist Church, building fund, Highway 5, Mountain View, AR 72560.
