Calico Rock Progress, Calico Rock, Arkansas, August 7, 1936:

Young Lady Dies As Result of Accident

Miss Eileen Killian, who was seriously injured in a car wreck, four miles west of here, July 10th, died in St Vincent's Infirmary in Little Rock last Tuesday morning, where she had been under treatment since the accident.

Following the accident, she was rushed to the hospital where it was found necessary to amputate the right leg. She appeared to be recovering from the operation, but complications arose from injuries sustained to the left leg and blood transfusions were resorted to in an effort to spare her life, but she failed to withstand the ordeal, despite all that skilled hands could do.

Eileen was 17 years of age. She was born and reared here and was extremely popular with all who knew her. She attended Calico Rock High School and had reached her freshman year. She was studious and ambitious in her school work, possessing those admirable traits that make for pure womanhood. Her death was a distinct shock to everyone and countless expressions of sorrow were heard. The grief stricken parents, brother and sister have the sympathy of everyone in their bereavement.

The remains arrived here on Wednesday's one o'clock train, accompanied by the parents and Earl R. Wiseman and family of Little Rock. The high regard in which the deceased was held was evidenced by the hundreds who gathered at the station and later filled the church to overflowing, in respect to a fallen friend.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ, conducted by Elders D. A. Hively and T. H. Sherrill. Interment was in Rose Lawn cemetery.

Surviving are her parents Mr. and Mrs. Frank Killian; one brother, Garland and one sister, Johnye Berniece, besides numerous relatives.
