Alice Ghostley was born in Eve, Missouri, to Harry and Edna Ghostley. Her father worked as a telegraph operator in Eve before moving the family to Oklahoma. She grew up in Henryetta, Oklahoma. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Oklahoma but dropped out to pursue a career in theater. Alice became a Award winning actress. Best known for her roles as Esmeralda in the TV series "Bewitched" and Bernice Clifton in the series “Designing Women.” She won a Tony for best supporting actress in 1965 for her performance in a drama, “The Sign in Sidney Brustein’s Window,” by Lorraine Hansberry. She was also nominated for a Tony award in 1963 for her performance in “The Beauty Part” by S. J. Perelman. She appeared in 30 films and many Broadway plays.
She was married to Italian-American Actor Felice Orlandi. Alice died in Studio City, California. On August 20, 2009, Alice's ashes were brought to Oak Hill Cemetery in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to be buried with her sister and parents.
