Amos Jarmore Cavness died at his home in Bentonville Saturday, February 9th, 1924 at the age of 54. His illness has extended over a period of eight months. Funeral services were conducted at the family home on Monday, the Rev. J. M. McMahen officiating. The funeral was largely attended. Besides his widow, Mrs. Gertrude Cavness he is survived by three daughters, Lucille and Hazel Cavness and Mrs. Zelma Woodruff. Also by his aged father and mother in Bentonville; two brothers, H. C. Cavness, of this city, and R. D. Cavness of Wichita, Kansas, also one sister, Mrs. E. D. Bogle of Bentonville. Amos Cavness was born on Pea Ridge in 1870 and grew to manhood there. He was the son of Joseph and Laura Cavness. In 1897 he married Miss Gertrude Alfrey and in 1904 they moved to Bentonville where they have since made their home. Mr. Cavness was a barber by trade and had many friends. Kit Campbell, his employer, states that he had worked for him 16 years and in all that time never missed the Saturday's work.
