KEITH, Sallie - Mrs. Sallie Keith, the widow of the late J.H. Keith, died at her home west of Bentonville about 6:30 o'clock last Friday evening, May 13th suffering a stroke a few minutes before her death. She had been in apparently good health and had been canning and taking care of fruit that day. Shortly after six o'clock, as her daughter came into the room where she was working, Mrs. Keith spoke suddenly of a sharp pain in her back which were her last words. The attack struck her and she lived but a few minutes afterwards. She was 67 years of age. The funeral was held at the home Sunday afternoon about 3 o'clock and interment was made in the family burial ground on the Keith farm. Rev. Barrow, pastor of the Christian church in Hiwasse, conducted the services. Mrs. Keith's people were Kentuckians and she was born and reared in the famous Blue Grass state. She was born in 1860 and in 1876 she married J.H. Keith. Leaving Kentucky the Keiths came out to western Kansas, going later to the Cherokee Nation. They came to Benton county in 1894. Mrs. Keith is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Will Hedge, Mrs. Clarence Connor of St. Louis and Miss Donna Keith, living at home and four sons, Earl Keith, Russell Keith, Loyd Keith of near Hiwasse and Troy Keith of Bentonville.
