Gene Christensen, 86, was born Nov 2, 1923, in Kirkland, N M to William Jesse and Vera Guymon Walker. She died Sunday, August 8, 2010, in her home outside of Booneville. She grew up in Kirkland, spending most of her time outdoors helping her dad. She earned a degree at Eastern Arizona Junior College in Thatcher, Arizona where she met her husband Victor Phil Christensen. They got married in the LDS Temple in Mesa, Arizona, on September 17, 1946. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in numerous callings including Relief Society, ward librarian and ward missionary. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, quilting and making beautiful treasures out of most anything.
She is survived by her husband, Victor Phil Christensen; children Vera (Alan) Spencer, Raymon (Shelley) Christensen, Aleathe Beddow, Kennard (Vonda) Christensen, Nolin Christensen and Derrick (Kim) Christensen; sisters: Florence Cluff, Loretta (Lamar) Stock, and Netta (Larue) Crum; 25 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; youngest son, Wesley Christensen; brothers, Taylor and William (W G) Walker; one sister, Enid Yarbro; and granddaughter, Emily Christensen.
Pallbearers will be Abram Christensen, Jacob Christensen, Zachary Christensen, Bryant Christensen, Phillip Christensen, Jeremy Christensen, Travis Christensen, Deron Spencer, Sean Spencer, David Beddow, Daniel Beddow, Dale Beddow and Jesse Christensen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Christensen and Sam Christensen.
