GETTS, John Wesley - John W. Getts, who has lingered several weeks, a victim of Brights disease, passed away Tuesday morning, March 24, 1925 at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. W.W. Pearson, to whose home he was removed when he became seriously ill. John Wesley Getts was born in Tippecanoe, Indiana Nov. 7, 1861. He moved with his parents to Lamar, Mo. in the fall of 1877. Was united in marriage with Sarah Hartman July 4, 1881. To this union one child was born, Mrs. Aura Pearson, now of Gravette. He leaves his wife, one daughter and one brother, E.V. Getts of Purcell, Mo. John Getts, as the writer knew him, was a man of sobriety, integrity and honor and was true to the cause he represented. For many years he had been custodian of Gravette school house and grounds and was held in high esteem by the people, the faculty and the hundreds of pupils to whom he was endeared, and everyone is going to miss him deeply. Mr. Getts was a member of the Presbyterian church and his funeral will be conducted this Thursday, 2 p.m. at the Presbyterian church by W.H. McCarroll, to be followed by interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Condolence to the family.
