(from Pleasant Valley) This vicinity was shocked Thursday morning to hear of the sudden death of J. L. Chastain. He had gone to bed Wednesday night in as good health apparently as he had been for sometime but when his wife called to him Thursday morning he did not answer and then it was discovered that the grim reaper of death had called him during the dark hours of night. Jesse L. Chastain was born near Siloam Springs March 19, 1870 and departed this life August 10, 1933. He was converted when fourteen years old and joined the Baptist church at Springtown and still while a young man was ordained a minister. Funeral service was conducted Thursday evening at Fairmount by Revs. J.A. Smith, Master and Jones and burial was in the Fairmount cemetery. He is survived by his wife, an adopted son and daughter, two brothers and six sisters. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved ones.
