Carlie H. Hughes, 65, of Route 3, El Dorado, died Tuesday morning in a local hospital following a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Bailey Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Dewight Bird officiating assisted by the Rev. Ray Wells. Burial will follow in the Philadelphia Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home. He was born on July 13, 1908, in Oklahoma, and was the son of Carlos Hughes and Cora Malone Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a retired automobile mechanic and a member of the Temple Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Curtis Perkins Hughes, of El Dorado; one son, Delbert Hughes of Smackover; three daughters, Mrs. Cranford Smith, and Mrs. Tommy Ponder, both of El Dorado, and Mrs. C. W. Stringer, of Houston, Tex.; two brothers, Troy Hughes and Charles Hughes, both of El Dorado; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Turner, Mrs. Lillian Beene, and Mrs. Jim Cooms, all of El Dorado; his mother, Mrs. Cora Hughes, of El Dorado; and seven grandchildren.
