Mabel Bell
SPRINGDALE--Mabel Annis Bell, 89, of Springdale died April 24, 1995, at Northwest Medical Center in Springdale. She was born Oct. 6, 1905, in Springdale to William Oscar and Effie Ora Webb Goree. She was valedictorian of her graduating class at Springdale High School and was a retired schoolteacher with more than 30 years of teaching. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, Alpha Delta Kappa sorority, the Order of the Eastern Star 158 of Springdale, the Shiloh Museum, the Northwest Medical Center Auxiliary and the First Christian Church of Springdale. She attended Central State Teachers College in Edmond, Okla., Western State University in El Paso, Texas, and Columbia University in New York City and was an alumna of the University of Arkansas. During the Depression, she taught American soldiers in Germany and adult education in Hot Springs, S.D. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Clifton Bell, on Feb. 11, 1968.

Survivors include one niece, Vera Lou Fowler of Lowell and several first cousins.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the First Christian Church of Springdale with the Rev. John Wrench and Cliff Brooks officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Chapel of Springdale.

Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, 2120 W. Emma Ave., Springdale, 72762.
