Ivon G. Sipes, age 96 of Monticello, passed away Friday, December 5, 2014 at Belleview Estates Nursing and Rehab in Monticello. He was born July 24, 1918 in Drew County, AR to the late Jessie Sipes and Vera Wyles Sipes.

He retired from MonArk Boat Company where he installed electrical fixtures on boats, worked as a loom fixer for Burlington Industries for many years, and was a long time member of Second Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Mr. Sipes was an avid hunter, fisherman, loved his family and friends and was loyal to all with his caring and loving ways. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Annie B. Milam Sipes, his second wife, Bonnie Asher Sipes, and two step daughters, Bennie Jean Bray and Mary Vining, four brothers, Grady Sipes, A. G. Sipes, Rayburn Sipes and Travis Sipes, three sisters, Marie Kilgore, Velma Adair and Jimmie McGee and one grandson, Michael Sipes.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Hayes Sipes of Monticello; two sons, Robert Sipes of Saxie, Texas and Delbert Sipes of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Betty Daniels and husband Arthur of Glendale; one step-son, Carl “Butch” Hayes and wife Molly of Monticello; one step-daughter, Joyce Chandler of Greenville, NC; one foster-daughter, Ruby Lewis and husband Alton “Sonny” of Mt. View; twenty-two grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and a very special sister-in-law, Louise Sipes of Monticello.
