STEPHENSON, Thaddeus W. - (from Avoca) Avoca has been called on once more by the grim monster. This time it is a young man named Thaddeus W. Stephenson. He was killed by the train running over him and cutting him in two. The sad accident occurred between Ft. Worth and Muskogee on the 13th. He was walking on top of the cars and in changing from a high car to a lower one he fell between them and 42 cars passed over his body. He was not missed until the train reached its next station. The remains were brought to Rogers and interred at Tuck's Chapel cemetery Saturday 15th at 3 o'clock. Rev. Peter Carnahan and the Presbyterian minister from Bentonville, whose name we did not learn, held the funeral services. Mr. Stephenson was born near where he was buried July 31, 1873 and was killed April 13, 1916. Age 42 years, 8 months and 12 days. He was a member of the Brotherhood of R.R. Trainmen and one of the brothers accompanied the remains.
