Nov 5, 1884 - June 8, 1968
~ Jessie Gerome Bates, 83, of Star City, died Saturday at Jefferson Hospital. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Calvary Assembly of God Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mittie Mullikin Bates; five sons, George Bates, Robert Bates, Raymond Bates and Herman Bates, all of Star City, and Ralph Bates of Norwich, Connecticut; one daughter, Mrs. Mabelle Kimbrell of Malvern; 19 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Calvary Assemby of God Church by Reverend G.A. Stubbs. Burial will be in Leek Cemetery by Buie Funeral Home of Star City. Pallbearers will be A.J. Pickins, Everett Davis, H.W. Drake, Marion Drake, Robert Hawkins and Roy Newman. Lincoln Ledger 9 Jun 1968
