Thelma Estell Sanson, 86, of Monticello died Saturday, October 23, 2004, at Monticello Healthcare. Born June 22, 1918, in Pike County to John Wesley "Buss" Gardner and Mary Bell Crews Gardner, she was a retired textile mill worker and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, William "Bill" Sanson and wife Annette of Monticello; one daughter, Pat Mitchell Hood and husband Jimmy of Monticello; five grandchildren, David Sanson, Greg Sanson, Renee Mitchell, Holly Rosegrant and Lee Sanson, all of Monticello; and five great-grandchildren, April Sanson, Megan Sanson, Jessica Sanson, Cody Curtis and Bralee Sanson, all of Monticello. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Preston "Press" Sanson; one son, Danny Sanson; one brother, J. D. Gardner; and three sisters, Opal Barlow, Catherine Thurman and Effie Dickerson.
Funeral services were held Monday, October 25, in the chapel of Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home of Monticello with Rev. Buddy Lemons officiating. Burial was at Union Ridge Cemetery.
