Kathleen Gwen McConkie, 77, of Hot Springs, died Sunday, April 13, 2008. Born November 26, 1930 in Nesquehoning, Pennsylvania to the late Roderick Tyler and Gwenllian Margaret Bliss. After receiving her Registered Nurse degree, she enlisted into the U.S. Army Medical Corps where she achieved the rank of 2nd Lieutenant . She worked in the polio ward at Ft. Sam Houston, where she met her husband, Stuart. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Women, Community Players, Jackson House, a charter member of Garvan Woodland Gardens and was a volunteer in the community. Kathleen, known as Bubby or Kathy to her friends, embraced the role of Nana to her nine grandchildren and played a vital part in her husband, children and grandchildrens' lives.
She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Dr. Stuart B. McConkie, who died in 2001; a brother, R. T. Bliss and a sister, Mamie Kinser.
